Dina Tsirgielis completed her Masters degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association. She completed her clinical training at the University of British Columbia’s Scarfe Counselling Centre and Surrey Mental Health and Substance Use Services at Surrey Memorial Hospital. While at Scarfe Counselling Centre, she utilized a solution-focused approach to help students struggling with personal hardships, stress, burnout as well as academic and relationship challenges to meet their personal goals.
During her training Surrey Mental Health and Substance Use Services, Dina provided individual counselling to clients dealing with depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, Borderline Personality Disorder, trauma as well as relationship and marital issues. She also led Cognitive Behavioural Therapy groups for anxiety and depression, as well as a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy group for individuals suffering with Borderline Personality Disorder.
Dina works with both adults and adolescents of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds who want to gain understanding into their situation, and learn ways to make lasting changes in their lives. She aims to provide her clients with a supportive and empathic environment in which they feel understood. Dina works collaboratively with her clients to develop a plan to meet their personal goals. She helps clients to identify their unique strengths and abilities and teaches skills and strategies to enable clients to feel empowered to manage and cope with life challenges and actively engage in their lives.
Dina has extensive experience using a variety of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness based approaches
Dina is available on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Brampton office.
